Will Power?

So tell me, am I the only one who couldn’t resist the Webs annual sale? I found myself unable to walk away from the opportunity to collect the necessary materials for Christmas knitting, future birthday gifts, etc (read stash enhancement). I placed an order in each of the two months of the sale. How could I not? There were different special in April than were to be found in May.

April’s box contained a bit of Cascade 220 in colors like “Christmas Green” and “Christmas red”, plus a few other shades which seemed like a good idea for knit Christmas Stockings, which are on my “to do” list for this year.

I also snatched up 8 balls of Cascade Arcadia, a cotton/angora blend. Four balls each of Aqua and Amethyst are quietly awaitng their marching orders. Can you guess which brand was “majorly” on sale in April?

My May box was more of a hodge-podge. I collected four skeins of Huntington sock yarn from Valley Yarn, two red, two brown. Since, as you all know, sock yarn doesn’t count as stash, these were “freebies” for me.

For some thing new to experiment with, I chose Lilly Chin’s Park Avenue, a Merino/Alpaca blend. Again, I added two balls each of two different colorways to my shopping cart. I’m thinking mittens would be nice…

The big, big bargain for May was the acquisition of 400 meters of Gedifra Cotton/Merino in Sky Blue, for only $2.00/100 meters! And finally, acting on a tip from another blogger, I scooped up 4 skeins of the ever so soft Premiere, from Classic Elite Yarns, in Rose, to knit a scarf/stole for someone special.

It’s too dark for good photos now, but I’ll try to flash the new stash sometime soon. Let’s make a deal: I’ll show you mine if you’ll show me yours!

Responses

  1. Well, I resisted, but only because my yarn addiction lately rhymes with rocks and socks…hehehe 🙂 Can’t wait to see the new stash additions!

  2. I purchased 8 skeins of the Premiere, and that was it for me.

  3. I forced myself to resist because I have actually *gasp* run out of room for my stash.

  4. Drool, drool, drool. 🙂

  5. Guilty as charged, I ordered my yarn on the first day of the sale, 2 skeins of ecowool in cream and 3 in a pewter like color.
I couldn’t resist such cheap wool.

  6. I deleted the notice as soon as I saw it in my inbox. I know better.

Besides, I was in Finland. I bought Finnish yarn….

  7. Resistance was not an option. I was there in person for the Yarn Harlot event, and sock yarn- sock yarn was on sale. I did restrain myself in May, though. And at least half of what I bought is for Christmas knitting, which I have already started…
