Chanukah, First Night

*
We are officially in the busy, busy season of the year. Advent began on Sunday, right after Thanksgiving. Tonight marks the start of Chanukah, and before you know it, Christmas will be here…..and don’t forget New Years!

I’m wondering how in the world to make all of that work with Chan and Gmarie’s “Slowing the Season” campaign. I mean, we don’t do too much for any one of these events, but the cumulative effect can still equal chaos. Throw in a few family/friend birthdays and some traditions (Scrabble Christmas Tea) and, well…..whooosh!

Did I also mention that the rest of life and it’s demands continue apace, with no regard for the busy-ness and demands of the “holiday” season? So, here is my pledge; I will take some time each day and night to enjoy and meditate on the wonderful ‘reasons for the season’ and to count my blessings. They are many!

  1. Well, the whole point of Slowing the Season is to simplify so you can enjoy the holidays. So… whatever works for you. If being busy and doing it all makes you happy, then don’t slow down for those of us lost in the shuffle!

  2. I love this time of year and I even enjoy the hustle and bustle. Just stop every now and then to clear your head and remind yourself to enjoy.
