Flashback Challenge Details

The Flashback Challenge will run from January 1, 2010 – December 31, 2010.

You can sign up for the following levels:

Bookworm – Up to three books
Scholar – Four to six books
Literati – Over six books

Within these levels, we have mini-challenges! These are:

1. Re-read a favorite book from your childhood

2. Re-read a book assigned to you in high school

3. Re-read a book you loved as an adult

I’m going to go for the Scholar level, I think. I know I can read more than that, but I want to make sure to save some time for new books, too! My plan is to read at least one book from each of the three categories. Tomorrow I will begin by re-reading…..

Little Women!

  1. As a young girl I loved Little Women. I reread it a couple years ago and was so disappointed. I wish I hadn’t reread it, but just remembered it.

  2. I loved Little Women but I’m starting with a vintage thriller, Strong Poison by Dorothy Sayers. Hoping to be able to re-read one favourite every month. I’ve just joined Ravelry – have you?

  3. I recently tried to read Little Women, and just couldn’t get past the goodie-twoshoes characters. They just didn’t ring true to me and I couldn’t get into the story.

  4. I’m going to lurk this one out. I do plan to read more this year, but I’m just not feelin’ the “old school” re-read right now.

  5. I think this is on my long-term TBR list. Can you believe I’ve never read it?!! Have you read any of the other books she wrote?

  6. I love that you have posted this Flashback Challenge. Definitely will either go for Scholar or Literati. I think this is so wonderful and can’t wait to get started.

  7. I read re-read Little Women, Jo’s Boys, Good Wives, fairly recently and still quite enjoyed them. You just have to remember that they were written a long time ago for very different girls from nowadays.

  8. Thanks a lot for participating in the Flashback Challenge! I’m excited for it 🙂

  9. I have that same copy of the book! Loved it! Interesting the comments about rereading it and not loving it again….you’ll have to keep us posted!

  10. I’m in! I re-read Little Women last summer, but I have to agree with Sue; somehow it was more exciting to me as a child. I’ve dusted off an old copy of “Heidi”. I honestly don’t recall if I read it or just watched that charming old movie. I’ll let you know how it reads.

  11. OK, I have finished my first selection, Heidi. I found it to be even better than I remembered. As a child, Heidi and her friend Klara were the characters I related to; but as a grandmother, I found myself empathizing most with the grandfather. And I never noticed the spiritual story woven into this book as a child. It really has a wonderful message of redemption and providence. It’s a short read. I recommend it.
Not sure what to read next…
