Graduation Time

Last May my youngest son graduated from High School, along with two of his closest friends. Friday night the last of the “Three Amigos” (yes, I know there are four all together, but Daniel’s three best friends) graduated. It was another wonderful, individualized expression of the homeschool community.

There were six High School graduates and one Eight grade promotion. The assortment of caps and gowns alone, tells much of the story of how different each of these young people is, and how different their schools are, too.

Daniel’s buddy, Billy, Bill, Will, whatever! spoke on behalf of the graduates. The girls were all happy as none of them wanted to do a speech. Billy is a speech kind of guy. He’s been involved in Speech and Debate for the last 4-5 yrs and will be attending a college in Southern California this fall who sought him out for just that skill. 🙂

Billy’s mother, Michelle, also graduated that night. He was her youngest, so she is done with full-time school, too! Yeah Michelle!!

All but two of this year’s graduates have been students of mine at one time or another, so indulge me a little, while I post one last photo of the group.

  1. Thanks Ruth! Woot! You and I are part of a rare breed… the retired homeschool mom…or is it just the tired homeschool mom. 🙂 You got some great pictures. I may steal some of them if you don’t mind too much.

  2. lovely photos and I’d like to add my congratulations

  3. Congrats to all! What a proud, happy time for all of you.

  4. Woah look at those colours! I’m kinda glad we didn’t do cap-and-gown for our high school graduation! Congratulations to you, Michelle, and Billy/Bill/Will!!

  5. Congratulations!

I think picking your own graduation gown color would be just one more cool thing about homeschooling.
