New Year’s Scrabble Tea?

With a slightly less than optimal experience at our Scrabble Tea this year, I thought it was only fitting to celebrate the return, however temporary, of one of our little group’s original members with an afternoon of tea and Scrabble. Elizabeth arrived Monday noon from Pennsylvania (with her hubby in tow) so I arranged to have our get-together on Tuesday, seeing how Wednesday (Dec. 31) is a holiday. (sort of)

I set the table with Christmas colors, considering all the holiday decorations are still up in the house. Elizabeth and I baked some Christmas scones, got all of the other goodies ready for lunch, and put the kettle on.

After the scones and savories were gone I brought out the dessert tray. In addition to the shortbread and macaroon, Elizabeth and I had prepared a special little treat with a Belgian dark chocolate cordial cup filled with cheesecake filling and topped with grated toffee chocolate. Yum.

Opps! I almost forgot about the frozen, cream-filled, chocolate-dipped strawberries. 🙂

Once the dessert tray was cleared, we got down to the real business of the day; Scrabble!

We had two games, each with three gals. Bonnie beat up on me and Elizabeth, while Pam took care of Donna and Bev. At the end, Pam and Bonnie drew tiles, and the winner was…..

Oh, and Pam, just because the Cube is living at your house for now doesn’t mean I’m giving up the title of ScrabbleQueen!
