“K” is For….

Kilauea Volcano and The Kona Coast

Last year we took a little trip out to the Big Island of Hawaii.

We stayed in Kailua Kona …..

We visited a Kona Coffee plantation and roaster….

We saw the Black Sand beach….

And, of course, we went to the infamous Kilauea Volcano. It wasn’t spitting up lava or much toxic gas at that time. I hear from my brother who lives there that this year it is very active and the whole island is suffering from the “vog”. (volcanic smog)

The most amazing thing to me, was that you could go from total devastation to lush rain forest in just five minutes, all on the same volcano!

Sorry about no spectacular lava photos….go Here to see those.
