Catching Up

Phew…it’s been a while since I’ve posted pictures of the WIPs and FOs. For that matter, the WIP page is incredibly out of date, too. So here we go…

The Child’s First Socks in Shell pattern were completed in plenty of time to be given for an end of January birthday, however due to scheduling issues they weren’t gifted until Wednesday of this week. It’s okay, they were still happily received and appreciated. To recap, size 1 KnitPicks circ, 32 inch, Magic Loop, of course. I used LL Shepherd sock in Envy. Only 1 mod: I cast on 64 stitches instead of 63, and knit a 2×2 rib instead of the K2, P1 rib called for. A very fun knit.

Donna, who is too cute for words, modeling her new socks.

I also got one shot of the Fingerless Mittens made from the leftover LL Shepherd Sport, in Vera.

I posted my “pattern” for these on Ravelry. If you don’t Ravelry (gasp) drop me a note, and I’ll post it here too.

I made my first pair of mitts with a gusseted thumb, which I adore….Worsted weight mitts go sooo quickly!

And, finally, I got pictures of the hat I made for hubby dearest’s friend Phil…while the two were together. Can you see the bit of color at the top of Phil’s hat? He was so excited to have a bit of Jim’s “hat” in his hat, too. 🙂

Okay, now on to the WIP. Sadly, right now there is really only one thing worth mentioning. I started the $100 scarf last night, using the Baby Alpaca Worsted. My intent was to double strand it with black and brown together throughout. Not liking it. I tried several patterns, different needle sizes, but no. So I finally settled on single strand, Yarn Harlot’s One Row scarf, using mostly the black, but with an occaisional stripe of brown to keep me sane. It’s only about 4 inches long at this point, due to the previously mentioned work and homework which drastically affect my knitting time.

I wanna cast on socks, I wanna do another colorwork piece, I wanna…….ah well. Tonight there will be no knitting due to attendance at the King’s game. I don’t really think it would be safe for those around me in the arena if I brought pointy sticks to the game! (I might yell or get a little bit excited). Stephanie is coming with me, so it should be a good evening, even without the knitting.

  1. so now i know you why you were curious about my kitchen color!!!! I love my tea pot cozy from Kathy she did a wonderful job!!
Love your finished knitted items and can’t wait to see the scarf when its done, I have knit that pattern lots and always love the results!!!!

  2. Love the Envy socks!! The fingerless mitts are great, too. I will have to look up that pattern!

  3. Wow you’ve been busy! I so need to try fingerless mitts – I’m always so jealous when I see them but folks whip them out at such a rate they must be doable!
