Finally, The Scrabble Christmas Tea

I would like to say that I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to get around to posting about this for real. I mean, I’ve mentioned the event in previous posts, but not given any details or pictures as yet. I plead illness and holidays, not to mention lack of my computer for a few days, although it is a semi-lame defense, and I know it.

On the Wednesday before Christmas the Scrabble gals and I went out to our annual Christmas Tea. We have been doing this for around 8 years as near as we can figure it. This year’s lucky winner was ParTea Time in  Old Folsom. We were scheduled for a 1:30 tea time which should have given me plenty of time to get ready, however I was running late due to the huge size of the Lobster dishcloth! I finished it up 30 minutes before time to go pick up Bonnie and I still had to get all of the gal’s gift bags ready. Oy. Needless to say, I did not even think of taking picture of all the goodies in the midst of the rush to get out the door! Each of the gals received either a dishcloth or a facecloth, a cute Mary Englebreit bar of soap, and a Scrabble note pad and sticky notes set. I had cute bags, matching tissue, little cards, the whole deal…try to imagine it, okay? Tea was nice, we got full afternoon tea, with scones, soup, salad, sandwiches and desserts. As usual, most of us boxed up the desserts to take home for later. Those little bitty servings sure do add up when spread out over an hour and served with plenty of hot tea! I didn’t take a picture of the whole group together,(Donna did) but I got everyone in groups of two or three. If I get one any time soon, I’ll post one of Donna’s photos of the whole bunch of us.

And, only because someone will scream if I don’t include it, although it is quite unflattering, the threesome which includes your’s truly.

After the Tea, Bonnie and I went in search of a paper shop she wanted to visit, but we never found it. After a while we decided to head to the Natomas area anc check out the Boarders, where we spent quite a while looking for bargains and last minute Christmas gift. As the day wore on I began sneezing and sniffling and by the time I got home I realized I was in for a full-blown winter cold. Ugh. I hit it hard with with Zicam and EmergenCee and was eternally gratefull that I had only one class to teach on Thursday, and that wan’t until 1 pm so I could sleep in a bit. Gotta love the Zicam and EmergenCee, I got the cold under control by Friday morning which allowed us to complete our plan to visit Martin, our old exhcange son, in Santa Cruz. I haven’t downloaded those pictures yet, so I’ll show a shot from last year when he visited us. I knit him a hat, which he is goofing off with here. This is not a great photo of him, but it will have to do for now.

Wow, all that and I haven’t even blogged Christmas yet! I may never catch up.

  1. Well you had fun, and that’s what matters! The rest of us have all of 2008 to hear about your holiday fun. Hope you’re feeling better now!
