Chapter One, in which some knitting is shown

I found a quiet moment while the boys are off playing video games, so let’s see what we can get done. First, the knitting. Deadlines are killer, aren’t they? I knit my fingers to the bone this week to finish the stuff I couldn’t fudge on. I wound up ball two of the Baby Alpaca Grande Paint and dashed off the second half of my brother’s gift, a Harlot One Row scarf, to the strains of The Polar Express. Good movie. It was my first chance to see it, which is no surprise, but I was surprised to find that it was also my boys first time to watch it also. (They go to the movies way more often than I) I had the scarf tested by my German son when we went to Santa Cruz on Saturday. He’s a snappy dresser, so I figured if he liked it all was well. It definately got his approval, so I can rest assured it is suitable for my Mr. Business brother out in Illinois.

I completed a hat requested by Hubby Dearest for his friend Phillip, however, I forgot to take it’s picture before it was gifted to him yesterday afternoon. There will be a photo eventually, as Phil wants a picture of himself with Jim anyway. They’ll both wear their hats for that shot, so I hear. The need for greater washability for this hat led me to Katia Peru, in a nice tan shade. It is 40% wool, 40% acrylic, and 20% alpaca, I enjoyed working with it. For fun, I put in a stripe of Jim’s green alpaca, which really tickled Phil. Phil is currently living in a nursing home and Jim is one of his favorite visitors, so knowing he had some of the same yarn as Jim was a big deal to him. In place of Phil’s hat, I’ll stick in a picture of Eric’s hat, which I couldn’t post before as he might have seen it. If the yarn looks familiar, it is. I made the hat to match the mittens I knit him for his birthday last month.

There is more to tell, but I am out of time for now. Back to Christmas dinner preparation for me.
