Tuesday

I know, I know. Today is not Tuesday. But today is the day I’m going to share about Tuesday. The day started out a little gray, with a bit of low fog, but it wasn’t bad at all. We took a late morning walk across the bridge to the next little island, got some pictures of birds, flowers, and other wildlife.

We went up the road a bit, past the Captain York House, and around onto the bay. We saw some cool boat and were able to get some shots across the water to where we are staying.

It was just a few minutes after this photo was taken that first sign of trouble appeared in the form of a single raindrop. Needless to say, soon after many other drops were falling as well. We hd no choice but to continue down the road to the nearest available shelter.

We stayed at Cooks for about an hour drinking hot tea and eating peanuts, watching for evidence of the rain passing. Um, no. That was not going to happen. Did I meantion that it had been such a nice morning that we did not take our jackets with us? Certainly no rain gear or umbrellas. After the nice bar tender lady turned on the television news for us, we knew we were doomed. Doomed to walk home in the steady rain. If we could have flown straight over, we’d have been in the wet for only a few minutes. Lacking wings, however, or any offers of transport, we set out on foot, with our cameras in a plastic bag, and a prayer that they and our cell phones would remain dry, even though we most certainly would not.

I took a short cut across private property to save ten minutes of slogging even though Char was not so sure about doing so. By the time we got to the house we were soaked through. Good side, the cameras and phones survived. Bad side, we looked like drowned rats, and Char’s shoes and my purse took hours and hours to dry out.

Isn’t she cute all wet?
